Camping Bagatelle

Avignon, Vaucluse, Provence

Alan Rogers Review

Open all year, Camping Bagatelle is a combination of a city campsite, backpackers’ hostel and restaurant. It may be a bit noisy because of its location at the edge of the town — the city sights are just across the bridge. From the restaurant and terrace there are good views across the river of the historical Papal Palaces and the city walls of Avignon. There are 227 shaded gravel pitches, all for touring, with 6-10A electricity (long leads required) and are suitable for larger outfits. The site is a little hard to find and one must be very careful to follow the signs.

Facilities

Two toilet blocks, one of which is being slowly renovated, situated near the touring pitches and heated in low season. The second block is near the hostel. Private bathroom (key at reception). Heated baby room. Good shop. Two restaurants and a bar with counter meals (all year). Extensive tourist information and booking of city sightseeing at reception. Playground. Motorcaravan services. Occasional organised activities. WiFi (charged).
