For those setting forth north on E39 from Bergen there are surprisingly few attractive sites until one reaches the southern shore of mighty Sognefjord. At Brekke is a well known tourist landmark, the remarkable Breekstranda Fjord Hotel, a traditional turf-roofed complex which tourist coaches are unable to resist. A mile or two beyond the hotel, also on the shore of the fjord, is the family run Botnen Camping. This simple site slopes steeply towards the fjord, providing wonderful views to distant mountains from individual, mostly level pitches. It has its own jetty and harbour, with motor boats and canoes for hire.
